The Mideast Coral Reef Society (MCRS) is a dynamic association uniting researchers and representatives from governmental, non-governmental, academic, industry, and private sector organizations. Our shared focus is the rich and diverse reefs of the Middle East, including the ROPME Sea Area (RSA; Persian/Arabian Gulf), Sea of Oman, Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea.

MCRS is dedicated to promoting collaboration among researchers and facilitating knowledge exchange with stakeholders beyond academia. Our goal is to deepen the understanding of these unique ecosystems and to advance their conservation and sustainable use. Discover more about our mission and initiatives.

The MCRS Initiative is jointly hosted by New York University Abu Dhabi and the University of Southampton, with funding from the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council.
